Project details
In this web-site Stephen Russel, in art "Barefoot Doctor", works to diffuse the Taoist philosophy from a modern point of view: Supercharged Taoism aims to teach the taoist super-skills in order to succed in our busy modern life to relieve stress and improve our mood, manifest our intentions, develop confidence and self awareness.
The most important areas of the web-site are the articles, audio and video material about the Taoist skills and the "Supercharged Blog".
Some contents, like some audio files for meditation or some articles require registration to be accessed.
Working on superchargetaoist.com for me has been a really interesting and positive experience, because Stephen is a creative, open minded and fun to work with.
The goal of the design is to transmit a feeling of energy and confidence, inviting the readers to go ahead on their journey to awareness and to subscribe to the web-site to stay in touch to get the latest articles and news.
The menu is intentionally kept apparently simple at first sight, revealing a good amount of information, always organized and easy to read, when passing the mouse on the single items. I used this tecnique because I didn't want to scare his first-time visitors by overwhelming them with information.
The homepage draws attention to the slideshow, containing announcement of seminars, confernces, dvds or books and the invitation to become a member of the site for free.
I have to admit that the "Become a member" button works quite well, being it one of the links with most hit on the homepage according to the statistics.
The site has a special regard on accessibility, infact browsing the web-site with the keyboard is possible and pleasing, thanks also to the "Skip to" menu that appears when using the tab button of the keyboard (focus on the beginning of the homepage of superchargedtaoist.com and start to use the tab button to try or check the slide number 5 in the slideshow on this page).
Even if the design is an important part, is still possible to browse the web-site with image disabled (check slides number 2 and 4).
